What is the Duck Radical?

It is a boat for up to two people.
The Duck is narrower than a rafting boat and floats less, which makes it faster and less stable, so a bit more exciting. The paddlers use double-bladed paddles and sit inside the boat with their legs stretched forward.

The activity leaves from the Brotas Rafting base, in downtown Brotas, where we board our transport to the riverbank.
When we arrive, we give all the instructions for the Duck Radical, and then, inside the Duck, we practice the paddling and safety commands used during the activity.

The Duck Radical follows the same route as Rafting in Brotas. It is about 8 kilometers of drops and rapids through preserved forest.
Each boat has its own guide: the guide sits at the back of the Duck and the adventurer at the front.

Depending on the river level, we can do some fun things like the slide (a natural water slide you go down wearing only your life jacket and helmet) and surfing (we place the duck on a wave).

At the end of the Duck Radical, before returning to town, we offer juice or hot tea, water and the famous cachaça with honey (opens in a new tab) .

Duck Radical requirements:
Minimum height: 1.40 m
Maximum weight: 120 kg

Departure times:
9 am or 2 pm, Monday to Saturday
9 am or 1 pm on Sundays
Note: booking in advance is required

How long does the Duck Radical take?
The tour takes 3 h to 3 h 30 min from leaving Brotas Rafting until you return; about 1 h 30 min to 2 h of that is on the water.

What should I bring and wear for the Duck Radical?
– Light, comfortable clothes that can get wet (like sportswear);
– Shoes that won't come off your feet (we recommend sneakers or sports sandals);
– Sunscreen and insect repellent;
– A change of clothes, something practical like a T-shirt or even a towel (it stays in the vehicle);
– Regular medication (asthma, diabetes…).

Our activity includes: Transport, Life Jacket, Paddle, Helmet, Specialized Guides, Water, Juice or a hot drink and the famous cachaça with honey.

All adventurers are individually insured by Porto Seguro.
