Parque dos Saltos is near downtown Brotas, at Largo da Santa Cruz, with a beautiful view of the Jacaré Pepira River.

There are several waterfalls along a riverbank with preserved riverside forest.

How to visit:

You can enter Parque dos Saltos from both banks of the Jacaré River. On the right side there is a rustic stone staircase that goes down alongside the falls; after the falls there is a bridge where you can cross the river and reach the machine house. On the left side there is a channel where water used to flow to generate power, with a walkway beside it; about 200 meters ahead, a staircase goes down to the old machine house of the former hydroelectric plant.

There is also a suspension bridge across the Jacaré Pepira River right above the dam, and a little further down is the old Machine House.
The old hydroelectric plant generated electricity for the town even before the city of São Paulo! That was in 1911, under the name “Usina Parque do Jacaré”. It was shut down around 1970, and today only the building remains, recently restored and open to visitors. From there you get an amazing view of the Parque dos Saltos falls and can take beautiful photos!

So, if you are just passing through town and have little time for one of the activities offered by the tour operators, this is an excellent option to soak up a bit of the spirit of the Town of Sports surrounded by nature.

Definitely a view worth admiring!

Be sure to take lots of photos and share them on your social media (opens in a new tab) like we do.
